{Description}Designed by Florence Attwood, The Merrythought Bear was one of her earliest pattern designs, and was described as 'feather-light and beautifully finished', and made from 'Old Gold' mohair.

This impressive classic teddy bear is a detailed replica of the original Merrythought Bear, who first appeared in the inaugural 1931 catalogue.

Honouring the details of the original bear, our recreation brings this important teddy bear back to life using the same traditional skills and materials, and is hand-crafted from wavy golden mohair plush, paired with chestnut-coloured pure wool felt paws featuring hand-stitched claw detailing. True to the 'unequalled quality' of the 1930's character, this timeless fully-jointed teddy bear is adorned with a traditional off-centre scarlet satin bow, and 'growls' when tipped.

As with each character in Merrythought’s Heritage Collection, The Merrythought Bear features an authentic replica of their earliest ‘hygienic toys’ label, and has been individually numbered as a Special Edition.

Size 18 inches. Presented in a pure cotton dust bag with a Certificate of Authenticity.
